Recap

Mwai Mwanza, known as the “Dancing Master,” emerged victorious from his boxing match against Andrew Strickland at South Moreton Boxing Club’s recent charity event. The bout, which took place on February 15, 2025, as part of the “St Valentine’s Day Massacre” event, was a thrilling encounter that left both fighters exhausted.

In a post-fight interview, Mwanza expressed his fatigue after facing such a formidable opponent. “I’m feeling tired after such a fight against a tough man,” he said, demonstrating true sportsmanship by thanking Strickland and his team. Mwanza emphasised the collaborative nature of boxing, stating, “It takes two people to make a boxing match happen.”

The event, which had sold out well in advance, was organised to raise funds for “The Cornermen,” a men’s mental health charity. Mwanza took a moment to express his gratitude to the event organisers and the cause they were supporting.

Mwanza, who had previously worked behind the scenes at the prior event, found himself in the spotlight this time. He made sure to acknowledge the overwhelming support he received, saying, “I want to thank all of my best friends for coming out to support me.”

True to his nickname, the “Dancing Master” didn’t disappoint his fans. As he left the ring, Mwanza treated the crowd to an impromptu dance performance, eliciting a huge cheer from his supporters.

This event continues South Moreton Boxing Club’s tradition of hosting successful charity boxing matches.
