The South Moreton Boxing Club recently held its “St Valentine’s Day Massacre” event, raising money and awareness for The Cornermen, a men’s mental health charity. The highlight of the evening was the final bout, fought over four two-minute rounds for The Cornermen Charity Championship.
Main Event: Pearce Jonathan vs. Harry Clarke
The main event featured Pearce Jonathan from Colosseum Boxing Gym facing off against Harry Clarke of Spartans Boxing Gym from Chippenham. MC John Houston introduced the fighters, reminding the audience of the charitable cause behind the event.
Round-by-Round Breakdown
Round 1: Both fighters opened cautiously, utilizing jabs and footwork for defense. Harry Clarke appeared to be the more aggressive of the two, letting his hands go more freely.
Round 2: Pearce Jonathan stepped up his game, landing a solid right hand and making it harder for Clarke to find success. The fight heated up towards the end of the round, with both boxers taking more risks. A minor incident occurred when the fighters didn’t hear the bell, resulting in a few extra punches being thrown.
Round 3: Pearce adopted a unique stance, holding his left arm low to bait Clarke into walking forward into a left hook. The round ended with both fighters exchanging heavy blows in close quarters.
